Nothing says “holiday” like winter spiced mulled wine… and a bit of “Meantime” era Helmet.


1 bottle of red wine (any variety really)

1 orange (I used a naval orange – no seeds make for easier cooking and most delish pulpy bits)

2 cinnamon sticks

2 whole cloves

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup water

Combine juice of the orange, sugar, water, cinnamon, cloves and wine in a large pot on low heat just until the mixture is steaming.  While it’s heating up, slice up the rest of the orange and toss it in there.  Do not bring to boil.  Boiling reduces alcohol content, wine-friends!

Serve immediately.  Drink happily.
